Georgie Carey is the 2016 WA National Youth Week Ambassador

A Mosman Park teenager will lead Western Australia’s 2016 National Youth Week celebrations.

Georgie Carey has been named the 2016 National Youth Week Ambassador and will represent the State’s young people during the week of activities and events.

National Youth Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of young people aged 12 to 25 years. As ambassador, Georgie (19) will take a seat on WA’s National Youth Week planning committee.

The University of Western Australia student is also chairperson of the Mosman Park Youth Advisory Council and has been involved in running local National Youth Week events for five years. She has represented WA at the National Youth Conference in Canberra for the National Youth Council of Australia.

National Youth Week WA is presented by Propel Youth Arts in partnership with the Department of Local Government and Communities.

More than 100 events are expected to take place in WA during National Youth Week next year, which runs from 8-17 April. Many of these events are funded by National Youth Week grants provided by the Department of Local Government and Communities and the Australian Government's Department of Education and Training.
