The Department of Local Government and Communities (DLGC) is offering a series of free training workshops to country local governments as part of a wider program to build capacity and capability across the sector.
The Community Development workshop for councillors and local government managers will provide insight into how partnerships between local governments and community sector organisations can improve service delivery.
Participants will also identify methods for effective community engagement and collective impact, hear from experts on best practice and innovation and identify opportunities to improve local government efficiency.
DLGC is also offering the Youth Development Program workshop for young people in country local governments to develop leadership skills and prepare for their next career move.
The first workshop in this series was received positively and completed by 19 participants at the Shire of Broome.
More sessions will be held at various regional locations over the next 18 months. As places are limited, it is recommended to book early to avoid disappointment.
The workshops are presented by DLGC through the Royalties for Regions Country Local Government Fund 2016-2017 and 2017-2018.
Upcoming workshops include:
Dalwallinu, 14-15 November 2016
