National Volunteer Week (NVW) takes place from 9-15 May. It’s an annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of our volunteers. The theme for 2016 is Give Happy, Live Happy, reflecting research that shows volunteers live happier and healthier lives.
More than 600,000 West Australians donate their time and effort to volunteer work. The socio-economic and cultural value of volunteering to Western Australia in 2015 is estimated to be $39 billion per annum.
A number of activities are happening around WA to mark National Volunteer Week and thank the State’s many volunteers who selflessly give up their time.
The Esperance Volunteer Development Service (VDS) is hosting a sundowner event on 12 May to thank volunteers for their efforts. The Gosnells VDS is inviting its volunteers to attend a theatre night on 12 May featuring eclectic circus entertainment. The Geraldton VDS is also hosting a Volunteer Expo on 12 May.
