A group of delegates from Hong Kong have arrived in WA, as part of a youth exchange program between the State Government and the Home Affairs Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.
Seven West Australians aged between 18 and 24 years old will make the return trip to Hong Kong in February 2017.
The exchange program will focus on encouraging the exchange of ideas and experiences on an international level. A week-long series of activities in Perth will see the Hong Kong delegates taking part in a youth participation forum, a tour of Parliament House and presentation from 2016 Youth Parliament delegates, walking tours of Northbridge and Fremantle as well as visits to key youth stakeholders.
The exchange will provide both sets of delegates with the opportunity to develop an understanding of a different culture and greater self-confidence. It will also enable them to make international friendships and networks and create a base for future education and career goals.
In Western Australia the program is delivered in partnership by the Department of Local Government and Communities and the Youth Affairs Council of WA, supported by the Office of Multicultural Interests.
