This week is Carers Week (16-22 October 2016) an opportunity to pay tribute to Western Australia's 320,000 carers whose contribution to the community often goes unnoticed.
The State Government recognises the significant role of WA's carers, and funding of $850,000 has been allocated to support the provision of carers services throughout the State.
In April the first WA Carers Strategy was launched by the Department of Local Government and Communities in partnership with Carers WA and the Carers Advisory Council, providing a guide for the Western Australian community on how to better recognise and support carers.
Also this year, DLGC launched the WA Carers Services Directory, an online directory of services which allows West Australian carers to easily access information on the services and support available to them. View the WA Carers Strategy and the WA Carers Services Directory.
A number of events are happening across the State to celebrate Carers Week. Visit the Carers Australia WA website to find out more.
