Applications are now open for an exciting exchange program offering young West Australians an international perspective.

Seven 18-24 year olds will be selected to travel to Hong Kong in February 2017 and experience Chinese culture first hand as part of the initiative.

The program is being delivered in partnership by the Department of Local Government and Communities and the Youth Affairs Council of WA, and supported by the Office of Multicultural Interests. Places will be awarded to students who can demonstrate they are actively engaged in their communities.

Participants will have the opportunity to develop self-confidence, build international networks and get an understanding of a different culture as well as create a base for future education and career goals.

Regional applicants are encouraged, with travel costs subsidised by the State Government.

WA delegates will have the opportunity to meet and participate in activities with Hong Kong delegates in Perth in October 2016, and travel to Hong Kong in February 2017.

The program will focus on encouraging the exchange of ideas and experiences on an international level.

The International Youth Exchange Program is an initiative of the Western Australian State Government and the Home Affairs Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government to further strengthen relations between China and WA.

To apply, visit the Youth Affairs Council of WA.  Applications close 7 July 2016.
