Country local governments are set to benefit from a new funding program which aims to improve government and community sector partnerships.
The Royalties for Regions Country Local Government Fund (CLGF) Community Development Program will invest nearly $1.5 million in country local governments to deliver services that best meet the needs of their communities.
The program, administered by the Department of Local Government and Communities, is made up of three key components including a grants program, scholarships and training workshops.
As part of the program, country local governments can apply for grants of up to $20,000 to initiate a community development project.
Scholarships of up to $10,000 are also available which will fund training or study for country local government staff and elected members to participate in a nationally recognised program of training or study in community development.
Training workshops will be held in late 2016 for country local government employees and elected members to develop their knowledge and skills in community development.
The CLGF Community Development Program is one of five initiatives that have received a total of $5 million in funding over two years to improve the capacity of regional local government.
Applications for the scholarships and grants close at 4.00pm on Thursday 8 September 2016.
