‚ÄčA grant program that funds the establishment and maintenance of community gardens has been extended to 2019-20.

The Community Gardens Grants program provides $100,000 per year in funding for community gardens.

Through the program up to $20,000 is available to create a new garden and $10,000 for existing spaces. Funds may be used for planning, workshops, signage, infrastructure and community engagement projects.

The current round of funding opened on 24 August and closes on 20 October 2016. Successful organisations must demonstrate extensive community involvement in the planning and/or operation of the garden and strong partnerships with the local government and other community organisations.

The Community Gardens Grants program was introduced as part of the State Government's commitment to provide $400,000 over four years for community gardens and has been extremely popular. Since its introduction in 2013, 37 projects totalling $464,853 have been funded across WA for the establishment and maintenance of community gardens.
