A $15,500 grant recently provided by the Department of Local Government and Communities (DLGC) to The Big Issue is helping to provide employment to homeless, marginalised and disadvantaged women.

The Big Issue Women's Subscription Enterprise project employs women to pack The Big Issue magazines for distribution to subscribers every fortnight, giving them an income as well as access to training, mentoring and support.

The employment provides vulnerable women with a safe, secure environment and an income to help support themselves and their families.

The grant funding has been used to purchase 200 subscriptions, which will provide 200 Western Australian libraries with copies of The Big Issue.

Individual subscriptions of The Big Issue are $155 for 12 months (25 issues), including delivery.  Monthly subscriptions are also available. Every subscription helps support women to gain financial independence and create a better life for themselves and their children.
