A new planning tool for local governments and the community services sector, which provides population data about Western Australian children is now available.
The Early Years Network Population Profile, developed by the Department of Local Government and Communities (DLGC), is a mapping and data visualisation tool made up of interactive maps for the 0-9 population profile in WA.
The resource was developed to support the West Australian Council of Social Service Early Years Networks Support Program, funded by the Woodside Development Fund, Lotterywest and DLGC.
Early Years Networks (EYNs) play an important role in developing and implementing local initiatives, services and activities aimed at improving outcomes for children and families.
They provide a strong platform to engage with key stakeholders across government and non-government organisations to increase opportunity to coordinate programs for the early years.
This resource provides EYNs across WA with evidence-based information about children living in their communities. There are two interactive maps available: single map view and double map view.
Single map view allows users to analyse data for one location or explore data for multiple locations at a specific point in time. Double map view compares data and trends for one or more locations.
The tool will be updated specific to the demographic when additional information is released from the 2016 Census.
