Community Housing Organisation (CHO) Maintenance Grants Program 2021
On 7 June 2020, the Western Australian Government announced a housing stimulus package with an estimated value of $444 million to aid the state's COVID-19 economic recovery. As part of this stimulus, Communities is leading the delivery of a $319 million Social Housing Economic Recovery Package (SHERP). SHERP represents a significant government investment in a pipeline of works, targeted at social housing, to support the WA construction industry while improving the lifespan and quality of homes available for social housing.
As part of SHERP, grants of up to $20,000 per package are available for Community Housing Organisations (whether registered or non-registered) to conduct non-urgent maintenance on eligible items in regional locations in Western Australia. Applications for grants are limited to one per Applicant per Region and should include any travel allowances necessary to carry out the work. Maintenance for properties located in Perth Metropolitan locations are not eligible for this grant. Variations for further funding above the grant amount will not be considered by Communities, and any further funds required to complete maintenance work remain the responsibility of the Applicant. An Application may relate to a combination of properties within a single Region.
- Properties may be any typology (single detached, grouped, or multiple dwellings etc).
- Dwelling use is not limited to Social Housing and may include e.g. crisis, transitional, residential group homes for children in care, supported disability, seniors or a similar community purpose.
- Mobile accommodation, such as caravans, are not eligible.
Applications close at 2:30pm Monday, 1 February 2021.
