Youth Activity Grant Program2016/2017
  

​Shire of Morawa will conduct the Gunduwa Young Creative Producers Project.  Participants will take part in a five day film making workshop which will enable them to shoot, edit and create short films which will be featured in a mini film festival to be held at the Blues for the Bush Open Day and Concert Festival. Participants will also be involved in creating a documentary about the event which will be screened on the final day of the Festival. The project provides an opportunity for young people to develop new skills and get hands on experience in the film industry.

Youth Activity Grant Program2016/2017
  

​WA Community Change Group Inc. will conduct the Bunbury Body Image Project. A series of six workshops will see young women between the ages of 12-15 take part in educational and interactive activities covering topics including mental and physical health, emotional wellbeing, self-care, mindfulness, physical activities and nutrition. The aim of the project is to get young women to shift their focus from size and weight to a more positive notion of health and balance. At the end of the workshops participants will produce an art/photographic piece of work which will be used in a community wide media campaign.

There will be guest speakers from the Albany and Regional Volunteer Service and there will be a presentation of the WA Volunteer Services Awards for volunteers who have contributed over 25 and 50 years of community service.

After the presentations volunteers will enjoy a BBQ, drinks and live entertainment.

The Quairading Community Resource Centre, collaborating with the Inside Out Project (IOP), will acknowledge and thank the community volunteers by photographing and printing their portraits to be displayed at the local shopping precinct. Each portrait will be 90cm x 135cm and it is anticipated to have 30 posters to form the art installation. The project is viewed as a novel way to acknowledge and celebrate the contribution of volunteers and also to encourage others to be involved in the community.

The traineeship supports the Town's workforce plan which highlights and includes the attraction and retention of high performing staff, growth of employees, workforce diversity and alignment with corporate goals and objectives.

The traineeship supports the Shire's workforce development plan that includes a focus on employing local people, particularly young people to assist in creating a career pathway and increase the likelihood of the staff member continuing to work in the aged care facility.

The traineeship supports the Shire's workforce development plan which contains a leading service delivery objective with a focus on heritage and culture. The new Aboriginal & Environmental Interpretive centre will play a leading role in increasing tourism and aligns with this traineeship opportunity.

Escare is hosting a basketball competition using a beatball program. The program uses a 3-on-3, round robin, 'knockout' competition with music and food. The young people are invited to form teams focusing on physical activity, education, health and positive mentoring. Youth from various groups and organisations were consulted about the event and they will also be assisting in preparing food, promotion of the event and refereeing the games.

The Salvation Army, Crossroads West, Transitional Support Service will host its sixth annual postcard project in celebration of National Youth Week. This year’s project will incorporate the launch of a video that ran alongside last year’s project and the launch of this year’s project book. The project offers an anonymous state wide medium for young people aged 14-25 years to contribute a positive message in a creative and innovative way. It is an ongoing community art project where people can mail in their messages on one side of a postcode. All postcards are put into a book and are given out for free to participating young people and organisations for National Youth Week where the book is officially launched.
