Seniors Week is an opportunity for West Australians of all ages to join together and celebrate the valuable contributions of older people.
This year, the week ran from 29 October to 5 November 2017 and featured 100s of events run by local governments and community organisations across the State. Among the events on offer are 86 activities that received funding from the Department of Communities and Lotterywest. More than $79,000 was provided to organisations to help celebrate WA Seniors Week 2017.
On Wednesday 1 November, the annual Have a Go Day was presented by the Seniors Recreation Council of WA. The popular all-day event is held at Burswood Park and attracts an estimated 15,000 visitors. The WA Seniors Card Centre marquee provided visitors with information, advice and offerred new applications for membership or replacements for lost and damaged cards as well as a number of activities, including a competition corner.
